The economy

Originating as a farming town and centrally located between the Hanseatic towns of Wismar and Lübeck, Grevesmühlen developed into a town of artisans and small industries.

The economic potential of the town of Grevesmühlen is opened up by the A 20 motorway link to Hamburg and Rostock and in future also to Berlin. Trade, services and social facilities today form the focal point of the economic factors.

New commercial and industrial areas with a direct link to the motorway are available for the setting up of new companies. Innovations such as an intelligent, forward looking sustainable infrastructure (district heating, and also biogas plants and similar) provide companies with environmental advantages for the future.

The proximity and close links to universities in Wismar, Lübeck and Rostock offer possibilities for co-operation and produce new, highly specialised personnel.
